The Iowa Library Association, Iowa Association of School Librarians, and the State Library invite you to a special joint session promoting intellectual freedom and supporting Iowa librarians in their efforts to provide library materials to their community.
In the second half of 2021, the American Library Association saw an "unprecedented volume of challenges" to library materials, according to a 11/29/2021 statement from the Office of Intellectual Freedom. We know Iowa libraries have not been immune to this wave. We will promote a jointly-published resource list, discuss how good policies and procedures can see you and your staff through challenges, and have time to address specific questions from the audience.
We are promoting this webinar to public and school librarians with the hope that all Iowa librarians can have more resources to face a challenge, learn how to implement responsive policy, and how to support other librarians in their community when they too face challenges.
